Make Your Own Herbal Remedies At Home

Making your own herbal remedies at home is not hard to do.

The easiest way to make your own herbal remedies is to purchase the dried herb in bulk, or buy herbal gel caps and open them up to mix with powdered herb and other ingredients.

Of course, you may like to grow your own herbs, which is excellent as you will be assured that no harmful pesticides or other toxins are used during the process of growing and preparation. If you do decide to grow your own herbs, be prepared to wait a while for them to mature before attempting to make your home herbal remedies from scratch.

Grow Your Herbs at Home

For those who wish to grow your herbs at home, ensure you follow the instructions for the given herbs and plants that you wish to cultivate. Organic compost is the best fertilizer, and using organic pest and weed control methods is a must.

Some herbs for home remedies are used dried while others are used fresh, so be sure to research which herbs are best used in which way. Be aware, that although rare, some herbs may make you sick if they are used before they have dried.

Another factor is that some herbs may only be used in part, such as in cases on the root will be used, or only the leaves. Know and understand which part of the herb is required for particular remedies.

The most common way to dry herbs is to place them in a brown paper bag and hang it upside down in a cool, dark, dry place such as a kitchen pantry or cellar.

Buy Herbs, Mix your Own Herbal Remedies

For those who do not wish to cultivate their own herbs, it is easy to order dried herbs online. Many towns and cities today have stores where the dried herbs can be purchased. A point to remember when making your own herbal remedies at home, remember to purchase the empty gel caps so you can make your own capsules of herbal remedies.

One example of a powerhouse infection remedy which can be made at home is as follows. Purchase dried and ground Goldenseal, Echinacea, or Garlic and Cayenne. Mix equal parts of Goldenseal and Echinacea together and fill the gelcaps, or alternatively combine the Garlic and Cayenne together and place inside the gel caps. For a super fighter, combine all four ingredients in equal parts.

Another example would be the herbal remedies to fight infection. Simply buy Cayenne and Garlic, and a dehydrator. Chop the herbs before drying for a while in the dehydrator, then crush into a finer grind or blend to grind into smaller pieces before filling your gel caps.
